Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (LVP)

Unlike laminate flooring, Luxury vinyl plank flooring is 100% waterproof. You don’t have to worry about a dishwasher leaking on the kitchen floor and ruining the floor, kids spilling on the floor and having to clean it up right away, or pet accidents. For a family with young children, a waterproof floor can be indispensable. If you have kids and carpeted floors, you often don’t find out about a spill on the carpet until you step on it. Even worse is if you have pets. We won’t talk about finding a mess a pet left on the carpet.

Water-proof Flooring

One of the biggest benefits of luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring is its water proof quality. Now, we are not talking about being water-resistant, which is just another way of saying it just takes longer for water to seep in and destroy the flooring. No, LVP is 100% waterproof. You can soak LVP under water for 24 hours straight (we’ve done it) and the LVP will look exactly the same as it did before you soaked it. We can’t overstate the resilience and quality of these vinyl floors. 

LVP Care

When it comes to caring for your luxury vinyl floor, it mostly just comes down to common sense and keeping it clean. From the moment your floor is installed, try to keep any surface debris off of it, if you don’t you could risk scratching it right off the bat! Cleaner wise, we recommend you use pH neutral cleaners, don’t use any soaps or steam EVER on your vinyl floor. The floor of course CAN stand up to a lot of water, but it’s best to keep it dry as much as you can. When you’re moving furniture, we recommend you place some kind of hard surface between your floor and furniture. Sliding things can cause very deep scratches, and in the end it’s best to just carry anything you need to move. Even if you have felt pads on chair legs, they can become abrasive over time and need to be replaced. LVP flooring is extremely tough, but it’s also extremely important that you care for your LVP floors.
